The Jordan Rules: Why PR is Ruining Social Media

thejordanrules:

I remember when social networking was about sharing personal content with family, friends, and colleagues. Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of inauthentic brand communications littering my streams with noise.

The Conflict I do ‘like’ certain brands, and want my friends to know which brands I have a…

The life of a tyre is that of a thankless beast-Ettore Bugatti

Ettore Bugatti was a gentleman who pretty much summarized what the life of us tyre,s is like.

Hi I am a goodyear tyre and when it comes to pedigree and lineage I am the best. For it was the founder of goodyear tyres Charles Goodyear who is credited with inventing the pneumatic tyre.

Yes the same air filled contraption you don’t think much about but helps you get home safe and sound.

I must mention upfront that all tyres are not born equal.A Haryana Roadways bus will attest to that .In the pecking order of tyres a tyre on a Bentley is the envy of a tyre on a maruti eight hundred ,the most wretched souls being those which have to serve as carriers of public transport. Their owners do not bother with basic tyre hygiene like checking the air ,washing them once in a while etc .Things which are intrinsic to the health and happiness of any tyre.

Anyways I will not regale you with stories of plebeian tyre,s and tell you a bit about myself

I am the tyre of a Toyota corolla .My owner is a stock broker who takes good care of me.

By the grace of the tyre gods I have been a part of his happiest memories .I remember carrying his newlywed wife and him to their new home ,I also was their friend in need in a tough time when my owners wife had to get to hospital on time for her delivery and an ambulance had not reached on time. In tyre language I live what is known as the good life .I have another passion-travelling .I love travelling and my owner goes to places ,scenic places which take my breath away.I remember standing on the edge of a mountain in Himachal and watching the joy on my owners face as he experienced a moment of peace in his rather stressed out life(he is a stock broker you see).I am proud that I am a reliable and trustworthy companion in my owners travels .I will be back with more tales and anecdotes

Yours truly goodyear tyre

GOA

GOA

A trip to goa usually brings out different versions of the same trip. If you ask the golden oldies the usual memories they take away is going to calangute and buying sea shell necklaces .You ask a young teenager on the verge of adulthood his version usually involves lots of alcohol and rolling in the white sand in joy at catching a sight of a foreign woman in a swimsuit.

My memories of goa have undergone a metamorphosis  over the years. My first trip was at age twelve when my sole obsession was to build castles in the sand which sadly were not architectural wonders so to speak of but nevertheless gave me abundant happiness.

As time passed by the frequency of the trips increased and I started on the discovery of a goa which you will not find in a tour book. I remember going to goa in Christmas three years ago and gaping at the sheer enthusiasm of the festivities .There was food galore and in winter rain was a distant memory. You could lie on the beach with a huge beach umbrella giving one a royal air and sip on Feni and feel like the lord of all creation.

I also have vivid memories of eating Goan Fish Curry on a rain soaked afternoon when it seemed like the mythological Rain god Indra had decided to  unleash his fury on the denizens of this earth .The only source of shelter that day was a beaten down shack with dried coconut leaves for a roof and an extremely skilled and somewhat grumpy goan woman for a cook.

Eating that piping hot fish curry that day in that dry and sheltered place which was Hotel Panaji royal while watching a raging sea lashed by rain ranks easily as the one of the best memories I have had while travelling.

My equally travel savvy pals have argued often that Goa is overrated and that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a better bet when it comes to a beach vacation. No doubt that the seas are calmer ,the beaches a bit more still but it’s the sheer enthusiasm the Joie de vivre if I may of the goan people which makes the trip worth it. You can go all hungry to a closing road side stall near your and the owner will open his shop especially for you ,feed you the most sumptuous pav bhajji you have eaten in your life and regale you with stories about days gone by. Call me naïve if you may but the sheer warmth of that gentleman made my trip worth it.

They say it’s the people which make a place going worthwhile and not the minarets and the churches .They say Right
